2009 Workout 78 - Bike and Core Strength - 28 miles MTD - 88 YTD - 1848

It is really nice to be riding back in the Atlanta area. Whereas Atlanta as a city is an awful place to ride, there are some really nice exceptions, Stone Mountain Park being one of my favorites. I go there to see beautiful scenery, mountains, trees, lakes, streams, etc., and to get mountain training. After 3 months in Florida my legs were craving some climbing. So I did a relatively hard 28 miles at the park which involved taking the 4.8 mile loop four times and the longer loop once. The longer loop has even more climbing and I like to work up to doing that one several times in repeat. Today, my total climbing was about 2700 feet or close to 100 feet/mile. My average speed of 13.9 mph wasn't too bad given my climbing legs need work. I was pleased with the ride.

Before the ride I went to my home gym and did 50 pushups and 50 situps. I have been neglecting my core strength and upper body.
